When Wish got in contact with me about the Summer Style Challenge – my first thought was AWESOME swiftly followed by WHAT THE HELL!!!! where has the year gone? it feels like only a few weeks ago,
i was gearing up to style the Highroad Dress for the previous season, which by the way seems to have done a complete switcheroo – styling the A/W look in unseasonably warm & sunny weather …. and now trying to find a break in the
torrential rain & savage winds to style a Summer look! Weather, you Crazy.
well, needless to say – the rain may have stopped, but the wind, yeah well … you win this round buddy.
After scrolling through the lookbook i narrowed it down to 3 pieces i loved, the Ruby dress was at the top of my list – i loved the bold pattern
(which by the way, is a Wish exclusive print – so you wont see this in stores ANYWHERE else!)
& the classic cut.
I would have preferred to have worn this bare legged – but, for the sake of well, being warm – i refused to take off my tights. Melburn, brrrr you cold.
In everyday life – real life, i find that i really steer clear of lots of accessories, i feel jangly, over dressed and as if i’m trying too hard, personal choice really. I love the stacked element of rings, bracelets & fine necklaces,
i love it to death on other people, but on me, it just doesn’t fee right.
So, instead i let the dress do the talking – the vibrant print of the Ruby Dress means you are going to be noticed, regardless of how much jingle jangle noise your making as you swan about the street.
What also caught my eye about this dress – is the fact that the styling of it can be trans-seasonal, not only could you wear this from DAY to NIGHT in Winter or SUMMER
It means that as a staple, statement piece in your wardrobe you wont be restricted to wearing it for one event! make the most of your clothing & ensure that you are thinking outside the box when it comes to styling –
Work: Add Blazer, Heels, Briefcase, Game Face OR layer a white silk shirt underneath sleeves rolled up, collar peaking over the neckline. boom. you will be the envy of the office!
Play/Event/Dinner: Heels – Pumps/Peep Toes/ Stilettos, a sexy up do & slimline clutch
Weekend: Ballet Flat’s/ Converse/ Creepers/ Sandals, Denim Jacket ( sleeves rolled up please, keep it casual) & a Bowler Hat
or you could be like me, pair it back with Tights, Black Pumps & a clutch. giving it an almost mod – vibe, if only i could master the winged eyeliner and bouffant hair, we would have been swinging. yeah baby.
In any case, with a statement piece like this my advice is to :
Keep it simple, and ensure that YOU are wearing the dress.
Just add a smile & a slick of bright lipstick – everything looks better with a smile. it really is the best accessory.
also, to ensure you knew i was absolutely freezing, i added the goosebumps for additional viewing pleasure. your welcome.
